Visiting researchers from the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Oslo or from partner institutions may apply to borrow the apartments free of charge.

Both apartments are  equipped with basic kitchen utensils, towels and bed linen.

The Institute apartment

The Institute apartment is located on the ground floor with a separate entrance from the garden, as well as with direct access to the Institute library, offices, and other facilities.

The apartment consists of entrance, bedroom, living-room, bathroom and kitchen. It has air condition in the bedroom and the living-room.

There is no charge or rent, but residents must collaborate with the Institute and the University of Oslo staff regarding security and logistics. The kitchen must be at disposal for the Institute staff in relation to conferences and events.

Priority will be given to researchers with long-term stays (minumum 1 month) and Rome-relevant research projects.

Siri Sandes studio apartment

The apartment is small and practical, located on the ground floor in Via Raffaelo Giovagnoli 24 (Monteverde Vecchio), only 10 minutes walk from the Institute. Teachers have priority to the studio apartment. The studio is around 20 sq. meters, with combined entrance, kitchenette and living-room with a sofa-bed, and a separate newly refurbished bathroom. It has central heating and free-standing fans, but no air-condition.

Residents will not pay rent, but may be asked for a contribution of around 100 euro to cover electricity and shared expenses (condominio).

Teachers giving courses in Rome have priority, but researchers with Rome-relevant projects may be accommodated in the other months of the year.

It is the responsibility of the residents to leave the apartments in a clean state for the next visitor.
