Emanuela Longo

Emanuela (47) is born in Rome and lives in Monteverde Vecchio, only 15 minutes walk from the Institute, with her husband and their three children; Elena, Fabio and Flavio. Anybody visiting the Institute is bound to meet this friendly woman, and here is a short interview for all to get better acquainted with Emanuela.

What work do you do at the Institute, and which part of it do you prefer?

I facilitate events, order goods and services and ensure that we have everything needed for the daily activities at the Institute. My favorite part of the work is to organise lunches for conferences and workshops, taking food allergies and preferences into consideration, so that everybody can eat well.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

I like to spend my spare-time with family and friends, baking cakes and biscuits. I also like to swim and to travel. In the summer I always go to Puglia where my grandfather grew up.

Have you ever been to Norway? No, but I would like to go there soon!

Do you have any recommendations for Norwegians who would like to visit Rome or Italy?

I recommend Norwegian visitors to go for walks in vicoli, the quiet backstreets, of Trastevere and Monti, and to stop for an aperitivo (glass of wine) with stuzzichini (snacks). For lunch you could stop at a forno (bakery) and taste the pizza with mortadella con pistacchio and finish the evening in a trattoria, for instance "Tonarello" in Trastevere. If you want to go further south, I suggest to visit Alberobello,  Polignano and Gallipoli in Puglia, and to eat a frisella con burrata on the beach at sunset.
