The aim of the mentoring program
As a new employee at HF, there is a lot to get used to. Through the mentoring program, we want you to get a flying start to your new position as a member of our academic community. In the mentoring program we build on recent experiences from new staff. Through the program we want you to experience inclusion and integration in the workplace. The program aims to act as a door opener to the culture of UiO and help you to find your own career path within this culture.
Practical information about the mentoring program
When you accept a job offer from us, you will automatically be enrolled in the mentoring program. You will be assigned a mentor who we believe will suit you and your field of expertise. A separate agreement between you and your mentor is signed upon commencement.
The program starts every autumn, and gives you 35 hours of credit in the work duty account.
The program is lead by a member of the academic leadership at HF (currently the vice dean of research).
The content of the mentoring program
The program runs for one academic year, two semesters, and consists of workshops (three full day gatherings and two half-day sessions) and one-to-one meetings between you and your mentor.
Activities
Autumn
- 5. September 2024: Kick-off seminar 10.00-13.00 (for employees that starts in 2024)
- September to November: One-to-one meetings between you and your mentor.
- 5. November 2024: Thematic gathering about organizational understanding 12.00-16.00 followed by pizza and drinks at Union (on campus)
Spring
- 23 January 2025: Kick-off seminar 10-13 (for employees that starts in spring 25 or after September 24)
- January to March: One-to-one meetings between you and your mentor.
- 4 March 2025: Thematic gathering about teaching 9.00-16.00
- 25 April 2025 Thematic gathering about promotion to professor 9.00-13.00
- March to June: One-to-one meetings between you and your mentor.
- 9 June 2025: Closing 13.00-16.00 with Diplomas and flowers
