Abstract
In the field of human gene editing, there are currently two main prohibitions: against heritable genome editing (germ line editing) and against non-therapeutic gene editing (human enhancement).
In this CPS lunch talk, PhD candidate Ole Boye will present the regulatory framework containing these prohibitions in Norway, Europe and internationally, as well as some ethical principles underlying these prohibitions.
Boye will also discuss technological developments in the field of gene editing (CRISPR), and whether these scientific advances challenge the existing prohibitions.
