Background
As part of the Minitexts Project, Melissa Kapitan is responsible for cataloguing and contextualizing the liturgical and devotional material added to Latin manuscripts between 700 and 1000 CE. Her PhD thesis employed sensory history as a means of understanding embodied spirituality in Carolingian monasticism, with a focus on the Divine Office. She received her PhD in History from the University of Kentucky in 2022.
