Oleksii Chebotarov (Ph.D., University of St. Gallen 2021) is a Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Eastern European History at the University of Vienna. His current book project, presented at a KLIMER seminar in February 2023, explores the environmental and sociocultural history of border rivers in modern East Central Europe, with a main focus on the Zbruch River. He is also involved in a number of research projects on East European migration studies, digital humanities, and Jewish history. He recently co-founded the EnvHistUA research group, which promotes and consolidates the environmental history of Ukraine as a field of research. As a visiting researcher at IAKH UiO, Oleksii will teach a session on digital mapping within the HIS2176 'Nature's Mirror' course and conduct a workshop on riverine history.
