How did we get into the current mess of environmental problems? How have our interactions with nature changed over time? Where are the historical roots of today's ecological challenges?

To find answers, Dominik Collet, Ada Arendt, and Johanna Conterio discuss classic and recent works in environmental history and introduce methods and topics of the research field. Climate, pollution, energy, epidemics, consumption, and environmentalism are some of the topics covered in the new course "Introduction to Global Environmental History," launched in Autumn 2023.
