Joana works as a postdoc researcher at the German Department of the University of Freiburg. In her current book project she is researching the ways in which the climatic conditions of the early modern period found their way into German literature. In this context, she is focusing on questions of weather perception and weather knowledge from the 16th to the 18th century. Beyond that, she is interested in the representation of soils (and especially of peatlands) in literature.
