About the group

We study how people have developed more numerous and intertwined personal, familial, and cultural connections to individuals and places in other countries and parts of the world, and how this has changed Norway.

Through research and teaching, the research group aims to contribute to a more multi-perspective and multi-voice history of Norway. We will explore and examine:

  • How a multicultural population connects Norway to global, international, regional, state, and local histories in very concrete ways.
  • Migrant and multicultural life experiences, including the cultural revitalization of minority cultures.
  • How individuals, groups and parts of society have contributed and responded to increasing diversity. This includes organizations, businesses, and political and public institutions.

The research group organises seminars, includes students in research activities, and cooperates with local and international academic communities and institutions.
