Academic interests
My research is situated at the crossroads of the history of knowledge, legal studies, and social history. I am particularly fascinated by the question of how the development of intellectual property rights (patents, copyrights, trademarks) has contributed to the legitimacy of scientific claims in the realms of politics and society.
Research Supervision
I welcome enquiries from prospective students wishing to work on various areas of early modern history (c.1450-c.1850). Although I am specialized in the history of knowledge and legal history, I have a broad interest in the different facets of religious, social, and cultural history, as well as in the history of political thought.
