What are you going to work with at IFIKK?

I am working on a independent project about intensional paradoxes.

Recently the debate in analytic metaphysics has focused on the study of some intensional entities, mainly properties and propositions,  in order to develop theories that could formalize these notions.  However, it seems that high-order metaphysics is threatened by a series of paradoxes,  that is contradictions that can be proved starting from commonly held axioms.

My project focuses in particular on the Russell-Myhill paradox about propositions: representing an inconsistency in the theory, it undermines the possibility to elaborate adequate identity criteria for propositions.

The aim of my research is to find restricted versions of comprehension principles, which constitute the source of intensional paradoxes, and study the consequences of these restrictions in metaphysics and other research areas, namely modal metaphysics and philosophy of mathematics.

Can you tell us a bit about your research interests?

My research interests are related to analitic metaphysics and philosophical logic.  Actually, in my MA thesis I proposed a defence of contingentism against necessitism, trying to develop first and second-order modal logics  that could faithfully represent the intuitions of the former.  However, I am also interested in philosophy of language and epistemology, especially philosophy of physics and biology.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I am a fan of outdoor sports, especially hiking, running and cycling. In addition to philosophy, I am interested in debates on current politics.  Usually, I enjoy listening to classical and rock music, and when I'm not busy with my research, I enjoy playing video games and watching movies.  Also, I am a non-competitive Magic The Gathering player.
