What are you going to work with at IFIKK?

I am working on many different projects related to art and ecology, among them an edited volume that grew out of the conference (Re)Made in China: Material Dis:connections, Art and Creative Reuse which I held in Munich in May 2023. I look very much forward to learning more on the collections of Chinese art in Oslo, Bergen and other locales throughout Norway.

Can you tell us a bit about your research interests?

My research interests revolve around art and ecology, material culture (especially maritime material culture), creative strategies of recycling, museum studies and transcultural histories of collecting, postcolonial studies, history and theory of crafts, gender studies, historiography of art, with a focus on art and material exchange between Europe and Asia (especially China) from the early modern period to the present.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

That depends a bit on where I am. In Oslo, I am currently exploring the city and its surroundings, recently travelled to Bergen and look very much forward to exploring more Northern destinations and to what the future brings in terms of inspiring ‘Nordic activities’.
