Background

Chiara Gazzini studied at “Tor Vergata” University in Rome, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Philology (2012) and a Master’s degree in Byzantine Literature and Philology (2014). Her doctoral dissertation (PhD in Ancient Classics and Their Fortune, “Tor Vergata” University, 2020) consisted in the critical edition, translation, and commentary of the Greek and Latin letters by the distinguished Byzantine scholar Manuel Chrysoloras (1360-1415). As a postdoctoral researcher at IFIKK she is currently researching the dissemination and reception of Chrysoloras’ letters in the cultural environment of 16th-century Europe within the Twinning project “GrECI: Greek Heritage in European Culture and Identity”, led by Han Lamers.
