Academic interests
I'm very interested in classical reception and the cultural history of the Latin language, in particular how Latin and the classical heritage has been used and abused throughout history.
My PhD project will treat the history of Norwegian classical philology in the 19th century. More specifically, I focus on the classical philological research at the university in Norway and its development during this century, as well as its interaction with contemporary cultural, political, and academic currents, both nationally and internationally.
My MA thesis examined the reception of ancient mythology and literature, primarily Ovid's Metamorphoses, in the opera Semele (1744) by G.F. Handel.
