Academic interests
My background is in the history and philosophy of science. My primary interest is in the philosophy of medicine. I'm interested in medical concepts, their effect on medical and healthcare practices, and their implications for patients and society. I'm also interested in how technological and theoretical advances in biology affect medical research and practice.
In my PhD thesis, I delve into the concept of medical holism and its relation to pluralism, asking how extensively one can and should understand medicine. I explore what kind of knowledge is relevant for medicine to be successful and which perspectives should be considered so that the knowledge they include will become accessible. As an integral part of my thesis, I address issues of epistemic injustice in the medical context and discuss central concepts such as 'patient', 'recovery', and 'diagnosis'. I work on case studies like One Health Medicine, Precision/Personalized Medicine, health tracking wearable technologies and the Covid-19 pandemic. My methodology bridges disciplinary boundaries and encompasses a wide range of literature from various fields (eg, sociology, phenomenology, anthropology, and STS) amalgamated within an analytical philosophy framework.
Beyond my PhD research, I have an interest in the history, philosophy, and sociology of biology, the philosophy of psychiatry, and STS. I'm also interested in the intersection between knowledge production and visual art.
