Depression is the largest contributor to global disability, according to the WHO. It affects more than 250 Million people.

Rumination is often thought to be the leading cause of depression: individuals repetitively think about negative aspects of their lives.

Rumination is often conceptualized as a distinctive pattern of attention. That, obviously, raises questions at the heart of GoodAttention. And now, we will investigate them:

We just heard the news: Victor Lange, who recently received his PhD from the University of Copenhagen, will be joining us this Fall for two years as a postdoc funded through the Danish Carlsberg foundation. He will conduct a philosophical study of the rumination theory of depression:

  • What exactly does the rumination theory of depression say?
  • Is rumination automatic or controlled?
  • Is it always irrational to ruminate?
  • Do some social structures make individuals more prone to depression?

These are some of the questions Victor's postdoc will address. He will work with us and the COPE group that studies the dynamics of how psychological disorders arise, persist, and how they can be treated.

We are very happy to have Victor with us. Aside from being an impressive researcher, Victor also works as a meditation instructor, writes poetry, makes art, and is a part of Regnfang, a platform that publishes podcasts on the human mind

Welcome, Victor!
