Øystein Linnebo

Philosophies of logic and mathematics, early analytic philosophy (esp. Frege), metaphysics (esp. modality and ontology), as well as parts of the philosophy of language (esp. questions about reference and truth) and of the philosophy of science (esp. questions of realism/anti-realism, spacetime, and quantum mechanics).

Ongoing research projects include:

  • developing and defending a conception of "metaphysicallylightweight" objects, drawing on broadly Fregean ideas (OUP book under contract)

  • plural logic and its philosophical uses and significance (book project with Salvatore Florio)

  •  infinity and indefiniteness (developing and defending a "successor concept" to the ancient notion of potential infinity)
