My project concerns human remains and idenitity creation in western museums. I have chosen a case study that focus on three egyptian mummies at three different european museums and their individual journies from their in situ context to present day within a museum collection. There are several themes explored within my project such as ethics, colonialism, exhibition practices, and museum narratives.
My supervisor and co-supervisor is professor Brita Brenna and assosiate professor Anders Bettum
Background
I took my masters within museology and cultural heritage studies at UiO from 2019 to 2021. My dissertation focused on fragmented heritage with a case study on Buddha heads at western museum. I explored themes such as fragmentation, contextualisation, colonialism, and exhibition practises in my dissertation which I now build on in my current project.
I have a bachelor in archaeology from UiO as well which I started in 2015 and graduated in 2019. During this time I took an exchange year at Leiden University. I specialised in classical archaeology and wrote about city formation, religous art and architecture for my disseration on the ancient city of Ai Khanoum in Afghanistan and the Dharmarajika monastery in Pakistan.
I worked as a research assistant from 2020 to 2022 for the international research project Human sacrifice and value.
