Project
I work with Japanese literature using an ecocritical lens, with a particular interest in crises, trauma, and the way we interact with and are interacted with by the environment around us. My PhD project, Writing Waves: An Ecocritical Examination of the Ocean in Japanese Fiction, examines literature from Japan that concerns itself with the ocean and ocean-adjacent communities.
Academic interests
Ecocriticism, Japanese literature, and literature and the body. Other interests include children's literature, horror fiction, cross-genre adaptations, and environmental toxins.
Background
Previously, I have completed the Norwegian Children's Institute's Writers' Programme, as well as a Masters in Modern Japan (UiO).
