About the museum
The World Soil Museum is for anyone who wants to learn about soils in life and ecosystems and see the enormous variation of soil types in the world. You can see soil profiles are sampled up to a depth of 1.50 m and are preserved through impregnation with diluted lacquer or glue. The 80 soil monoliths on display represent the main groups and the variation of soils within those groups. Soils are presented according to their dominant soil-forming factor and in special themes such as land management and soil colour.
