The iomante ceremony constitutes an important part of Ainu cosmology, during which spirits (kamui) that took the shape of animals to visit the human world (Ainu moshir) are sent back to the world of the gods (kamui moshir). Cironnup Kamuy Iomante follows the events around a fox spirit iomante giving a deep insight into Ainu indigenous cosmologies that have experienced long-lasting assimilation pressure by the Japanese state.
