Academic interests
I did my Ph.D on the poetry of Kristofer Uppdal and have worked extensively on Norwegian poetry from the early 1900s, focussing on new ways of contextualizing literature. I am also interested in questions relating to literatary historiography, and I have done much work on how literary pedagogy can and should handle textual historicity. Furthermore, I am interested in fundamental questions of literary criticism regarding interpretation, different ways of reading etc., as well as in questions of literature's societal roles and functions, historically and contemporary. Here, my main peroccupation has been with different perceptions of the poet's or author's role, and with different ways of justifying or legitimizing the study and teaching of literature, above all tied to questions of literature's and literary pedagogy's function or potential in a democratic society.
