ILN is looking for learning assistants for courses and programs in autumn 2023

ILN is looking for committed students who want to work as learning assistants at ILN during the autumn of 2023. The learning assistants will help with ensuring a good learning outcome, learning environment and study progression for the students, and help to follow-up with academic and social events. We want students who wishes to contribute to learning in a social community, counteract loneliness and create a good study environment.

Three students are in a group room, they have books and other study-equipment on the table in front of them.

Do you want to contribute to the teaching environment? And gain relevant work experience?

 

The work starts in August, with preparations, planning and training. The commitment period is August–November.

As a learning assistant, your duties may include:

 

  • Organizing and leading colloquium groups for students on your course/program. The offers will be voluntary, so active recruitment to the groups will be an important task.
  • Arrange professional and social meeting places for students.
  • Collaborate with course-professors/teachers where you will act as a learning assistant. The scope and type of tasks will vary.
  • Collaborate with learning assistants on other courses/programs about academic and social events.

The training that applies to new learning assistants in autumn 2023 starts on Thursday 17th of August. This will require physical presence.

What you need from training depends on whether you have experience as a learning assistant and what type of assistance the individual teacher wants in the course.

Who can be a learning assistant?

You must fulfill these requirements to be considered for the job:

  • You are an active student in the autumn semester of 2023, either on a bachelor's or master's programme.
  • You should have good knowledge of the course in which you wish to be a learning assistant, and preferably have taken the course yourself (or a similar course).
  • If you are a bachelor's student, you should have completed at least the first year of your studies.
  • Students who already have experience as a teaching assistant may be given priority.

 

 Salary and what we offer:

  • Salary level 43 for bachelor’s students and level 45 for master's students
  • The assignment is up to 70 hours, including training, meetings, etc.
  • Wage is paid monthly, pending reported work hours.
  • Certificate of completed work.
  • Good follow-up by the contact person throughout the period.
