About the project

The Master of Didactics Programme was an international collaboration between the University of Oslo (UiO) and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Poland.

This project focused on didactic development, teaching and learning for 60 university teachers from Poland and the same number of faculty from the Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies (ILN), the Department of Literature, Area Studies and European Languages (ILOS) and the Department of Culture Studies and Oriental Languages (IKOS) participated in the project.

Mentors from UiO worked one-on-one with 60 Polish university teachers in order to develop their didactic strategies and methods, with a special focus on excellent teaching.

The programme concentrated on experience sharing and reflection, and included workshops, lectures, tutorials (both in groups and one-on-one) and observation. We encouraged both parts to participate actively with constant mutual feedback - to challenge and motivate each other to inspiring changes in one’s own conception of and practical approach to teaching.

Objectives

The project's goal was to promote a shift in how teaching is conceived of in higher education, a shift that is for the benefit of students. The participants discussed and analysed the didactic tools, strategies and methods that was used at the University of Oslo, and reflected on how and to what extent these could be implemented in Poland.
