About the project

After Russia (afterrussia.world) is a musical and literary project that connects the poetry of Russian emigrants of the 1920s with the music of the artists from 2020s who found themselves in a desperate situation in February 2022. This project, a music album, received its name after Marina Tsvetaeva’s poetic book (1928).

The album includes 16 tracks, where the lyrics are based on the poems by Vladimir Nabokov, Yuri Mandelshtam, Vadim Andreev, Sergey Bongart and others. The musicians that participated in the project include Noize MC, Monetochka, Pornofilmy, AloeVera, Sansara, Tequilajazzz and others.

About the event

In this event Anastasia Kriachko Røren (ILOS) will have a conversation with Roma Liberov about these two waves of intellectual emigration from Russia, after the Russian Revolution of 1917 and Civil War and the War in Ukraine. The conversation will also touch upon Liberov’s previous projects on the documentaries about writers.

This conversation is a unique opportunity to learn about migration processes during two turbulent historical periods in Russia: the stories of the so-called “unnoticed” generation of emigrated intellectuals from 1920s, as well as recent experience of many who chose or were forced to leave in the past few years.
