In ten chapters of this book, Ljiljana Šarić and Marija Brala-Vukanović discuss the key topics of contemporary cognitive linguistics. One of the chapters provides a comprehensive overview of cognitive linguistics research in Croatia. The topics covered in the book include construal and image schemas, prototypes and categorization, metaphor, metonymy, and conceptual blending. The theoretical considerations are interwoven with a variety of illustrative examples, and each chapter is followed by exercises. The book is aimed at a broad audience interested in the connection between language and thought, and how meaning is created in communication.
