‘Empathic space’ builds on the interplay of bodily and mental characters movement in material and non-material spaces of a storyworld. These complex dynamics of different types of movements in various kinds of spaces generate non-material spaces which provide insight into the ways by which characters empathise with others and which may ultimately also help readers to connect with specific storyworld participants.
We will be reading an article draft by Andrea Talmann on “Empathic Space in Henry James’s short story ‘The Jolly Corner’”.
