LCE convener Karin Kukkonen has received an ERC Consolidator Grant for the research project "Jeux". The project seeks to shed light on how literary games in the 17th-century salons contributed to establish the novel as a genre.
The project will, in addition to a more traditional literary approach, combine literary studies, anthropology and creative writing by making students engage in some of these 400 years-old games, and thereby, seek to reconstruct part of the context for the rise of the novel.
