Multiple translations corpus project

The multiple translations corpus project is an extension of the English-Norwegian Parallel Corpus.

In connection with the English-Norwegian Parallel Corpus Project, Linn Øverås, in collaboration with Stig Johansson, initiated a closely related project.

The Multiple translations corpus project uses two English original texts that have been commissioned into Norwegian.

The corpus has very restricted access, contact Signe Oksefjell Ebeling for further information.

Same source text, ten translations

Ten translators have translated the short story: «A Lamia in the Cevennes» by A. S. Byatt, and another ten translators have translated the scientific article: «Communication and cooperation in early infancy: a description of primary intersubjectivity» by Colwyn Trevarthen.

This is an extension of the English-Norwegian Parallel Corpus Project because this new project benefits from the techniques and tools developed for the original project.

In short, the multiple translation project makes use of the same mark-up and the same software as the English-Norwegian Parallel Corpus.

The project's ultimate aim was to focus on norm and variation in English-Norwegian translation.
