Children, Youth and Media

Children and adolescents who look at screens. Illustration

A research environment that conducts cutting-edge research on the digital everyday lives of children, youth, families, and parents.

Have you been invited to participate in research?

This film is created through a collaboration between Professor Elisabeth Staksrud and researcher Niamh Ni Bhroin from the Department of Media and Communication, University of Oslo, Senior Advisors Ingrid Torp and Lene Os Johannessen from The Norwegian National Research Ethics Committees, and Red Ant.

The film "Have you been invited to participate in research? Then you should watch this film" is an open-source resource for researchers who work with children and young people. It effectively delivers information that children and young people should consider when asked to participate in research projects. It can also be used by teachers and other stakeholders who need to explain to children what it means to participate in research and what their rights are in this context. The film was created through the EU financed project CO:RE Children Online: Research and Evidence (core-evidence.eu) which the Centre for Children, Youth and Media was a part of.

For more information about research involving children and young people, visit the online resource CO:RE Compass for Research Ethics on the project's main site (core-evidence.eu)

The film is available in multiple languages (YouTube).

About us

The research environment "Children, Youth and Media" brings together researchers with a special interest in the digital media consumption of children and youths.

We conduct interdisciplinary research and participate in national and international networks where we work alongside the authorities, industry parties and others working on similar issues.

Research

We are interested in how children and youth use digital media, and how this usage is impacted by external factors.

Our researchers head and participate in several national and international research projects
