GLOBAL NATIVES guest researcher: Sophie Bishop

This week, GLOBAL NATIVES hosted Sophie Bishop as our guest researcher

During the week, Bishop presented her work Influencer Creep for our department staff and participated in multiple workshops, including an industry workshop with GLOBAL NATIVES expert advisors Keld Reinicke and Anja Nylund Hagen, senior lecture at the Manchester Metropolitan University Daniel Joseph, PhD candidate Emily Maeve Owens and GLOBAL NATIVES team members.

Bishop is an associate professor at the University of Leeds. She is one of the world's leading scholars on influencers, algorithmic culture, and content creation. She has published extensively in high-recognised journals such as New Media & Society and Social Media + Society, and she is a much-used keynote and public speaker. She has also had several commissions of trust, among others, she has been the UK specialist advisor for the Department of Digital Media, Culture and Sports’ inquiry info influencer culture.
