About the project

Queer people have become a much more visible, larger and more significant part of the game industry and game culture, and queer content in games has increased.

The project “Queer game developers and game players” studies these developments in a Norwegian context and how they affect queer peoples’ experiences with participation and inclusion in media and society.

Objectives

The project wants to explore and highlight the possibilities and challenges queer developers encounter in game development and their workplace, the possibilities and challenges queer players encounter in game content and the game culture.

This research will offer a better understanding of how young queer people in Norway use video games for exploring and understanding identity and access to different communities.
