The study start weeks are always a hectic and exciting period for the IMK staff, but this year it will be extra exciting as the Department is launching several initiatives.

- First and foremost, we say “welcome back!” to all our current students, both undergraduate and our master’s students, says Head of Teaching Maria Utheim. - In addition, there are about 200 new students starting on our various programs. What is special this year is that 40 of these new students are admitted on our brand new English-language master's programs, Screen Cultures and Political Communication. Although there are several Norwegian-speaking students at these programs as well, there is an increase in the number of international students at the Department, a development which is positive and enriching for both our students and teachers.

Similar to previous years, the interest for the Department’s programs, both the annual unit, the bachelor and the master’s programs, has been great.

- The interest in our education reflects the fact that we live in a media society, and media education appears to be relevant to an increasing number of professions, says Maria Utheim. - It is also a pleasure to see that several of our freshly backed bachelor students have applied and been admitted on our master's programs.

Just like last year, the first weeks are full of information meetings, get-together events and much more. We look forward to meeting new and old students!
