Description

What is Writer’s Hours?

It’s a low threshold, socially guaranteed artificial environment for concerted writing.

How does it work?

  1. We meet up at the start time (or at the top of each hour thereafter).
  2. We spend the first 15 minutes of the hour doing strictly non-writing – chatting, getting coffee, social media, etc.
  3. We spend the remaining 45 minutes of the hour strictly writing (defined broadly – reading, note-taking, thinking, etc.) without intrusions (so, none of the aforementioned non-writing).
  4. We start over at the top of the new hour – 15 minutes of strictly non-writing, followed by 45 minutes of writing.

What if I don’t want to be there the whole time?

No problem. The only rule is that you join or leave at the top of the hour and stick to the program while present.
