The book A production: being thirty-two collotype plates of designs projected or realised for The Pretenders of Henrik Ibsen, and produced at the Royal Theatre, Copenhagen, 1926 by British scenographer and theatre theorist Edward Gordon Craig (co.uk) is now available at the Centre for Ibsen Studies.

First edition

This work's first edition was published by Oxford University Press / Humphrey Milford in Oxford & London in 1930. The book is in hardback and in near fine condition, making it a valuable addition to our collection.

Ibsen and Craig

A production... provides readers with a unique insight into the work of Craig and his contributions to the performing arts field, particularly through his scenographic sketches for the production of Henrik Ibsen's play The Pretenders in Copenhagen in 1926. With thirty-two collotype prints of sketches, this book offers a visually rich perspective on theatre production from that time.

Whether you are a theatre researcher, an Ibsen or a scenography student, or simply interested in artistic processes in general, A production...  will be a valuable resource for exploration and inspiration.
