The book is the latest addition to Oslo Studies in Language (OSLa). The book builds on the project Linguistic Capacity Building — Tools for the inclusive development of Ethiopia, which is financed by Norad (The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation), within the NORHED programme (The Norwegian Programme for Capacity Development in Higher Education and Research for Development) (external link).
Several of the contributors to the volume were present at the celebrations, including some of the contributors who are based in Ethiopia. Speeches were given by Eirik Welo, Vice Dean for Studies at the Faculty of Humanities, Jeanette de Silva, senior advisor at Norad, and Janne Bondi Johannessen, who is one of the two editors for the book.
Multilingual Ethiopia: Linguistic Challenges and Capacity Building Effort is an open access publication, and can be read in its entirety here.
