The room is open to all employees at HF, if you do not belong to HF, please contact HF:Studio.

Remember to reserve the room before using it. People who have a reservation have priority to use the room.

How to book the studio?

Both students and employees can book the room directly through the booking system, TP. Click here for an overview of available dates and to make a reservation. Students need to fill out an application form. Click on the calendar and enter your booking. You’ll receive a response from HF:Studio once your application is approved.

Please note that it may take up to 24 hours to gain access with your student card. For some courses, access to the podcast studio is granted through the course instructor.

Employees can reserve the room in TP without an application. It is not allowed to reserve the room for multiple consecutive days without an agreement with HF:Studio.

Recording

Familiarize yourself with how recording in editing software and the mixer works before entering the studio so that studio time is used most effectively. Have a clear idea of what you will be recording and prepare a script with what is to be discussed.

You will record directly onto a memory card in the mixer and transfer the recording to the PC in the studio after recording. It is also possible to record directly onto the PC with the recording software Audacity, where you can record stereo audio.

All files on the PC are deleted after a certain period, so remember to save the recording on your own hard drive or memory card, or use filesender to upload files to the person who will edit and publish them. You can also log into OneDrive so that you can save the files there.

On the PC, there is also a program for setting up the mixer and that enables the transfer of multi-track recordings from the mixer to the PC, which you can then send via filesender.

You can alternatively bring a microSD memory card that you insert into the back of the mixer, or a hard drive that you connect to the mixer. It's advantageous if the card is empty as the mixer will format the card before use. There's a memory card in the mixer with stored settings and sound effects used by the mixer, so this card must be replaced after you've used your own card.

Additionally, you can connect a phone or PC to the mixer via Bluetooth or USB, which can also be used to call participants during the recording - or to participate in external podcasts, for example via riverside.fm. However, if you're going to have external participants in the podcast, we recommend the service riverside.fm or similar. Contact us if this is relevant.

Post production and publishing

If you want to edit the recording - add music, remove something, or improve the sound quality - we recommend using the Audacity software. You can find the manual to editing in Audacity here.

Foodstuff

Be careful with beverages and food. The equipment is expensive and does not like liquid. Keep drinks at a good distance from the equipment. Use a water bottle or cup with a lid to minimize spills in case of an accident.

Ask before you make changes

Please do not disconnect or remove any equipment, such as memory cards, cables, etc. Handle the equipment with care, and leave the room as you found it. This as a courtesy to the next user of the studio. If the equipment is abused, we may have to restrict the use of the room, and we don't want to do that.

Do you need help? Contact us!

Technical and production guidance can be provided by contacting us via email or calling us on 228 54050 well in advance of the recording. If there is a technical issue with any equipment, please report it to us by calling as soon as possible.
